Leyna Tran

Story Artist, Illustrator, and Designer

My Story

Hi! It's nice to meet you. My name is Leyna Tran, and I am an illustrator and story artist. I started drawing at a young age, but I didn't start my professional artistic journey until college.

When I was young, I would only be drawing for fun on the side and for my school projects until I was offered an opportunity in middle school. I was asked to design my middle school's yearbook cover. It was an eye-opening experience for me. After that, I started learning how to use digital drawing platforms such as IbisPaint and Procreate. In high school, I continued to work on my art skills in my art classes.

My professional career started when I started my job as a designer for the First To Go program at Loyola Marymount University. My first big project was designing merchandise for the program.

It was quite an interesting experience since I had to learn how to balance work and school, but I learned a lot from this experience. After learning the ropes, I was fortunate to move through their marketing team and land in my current position(s): Graphic Design Project Lead, Illustrator, and Administration Operations Assistant Manager. Currently, I am working on a few professional projects and working on developing my skills as an artist.

In my free time, I enjoy watching animated films and shorts, sketching in local cafes, and eating new desserts! One thing that is important to me is learning through trial and error. When there is some extra time in between my schedule, I try to learn new design techniques and software as well as improve my craft.

Now...you may be wondering where I got my artist name "artoflanes". Lanes is a nickname someone gave me a couple of years ago. I thought it was a unique name, so I decided to use it as my artist name!
